JRE announces the 85th Anniversary Cigar, a new line that will be a permanent part of the JRE portfolio. Originally intended as an 80th anniversary project, the project took longer than expected. It is crafted from the rare and challenging Pinareño seed, first brought to Honduras by Tino Agurdin in 1960.
It will be introduced via an episode of Hand Rolled: Julio R. Eiroa, part of the hand Rolled docuseries, which will show at the 2025 PCA trade show next month.
The episode tells the story of Eiroa, 87 years old, who led the tobacco industry in Honduras.The episode features interviews with his sons Justo and Christian Eiroa, John Oliva, Carlos “Carlito’ Fuente and Nestor Plasencia Sr.
The viewing will take place on April 11 at 1 p.m. at New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. The viewing will be hosted by Aladino and be accompanied by filmmakers Steve Gherebean and Jesse Mariut. Viewers will be able to enjoy one of Aladino’s cigars provided by the Aladino family.
